Internal Medicine
The cardiac-care office in our medical center focuses on early diagnosis and therapy of civilization diseases of the cardiovascular system.
Among these are:
Ischemic cardiac disease,
High blood pressure, arythmia,
Heart failure
We use the following diagnostic and therapeutic equipment:
• Echocardiograph: ultrasound examination of the cardiovascular system, of the individual heart ventricles and valves and their functioning, all of which evaluated by the cardiologist.
• Holter 24-hour monitor EKG: serves to determine significant malfunctions of the cardiac rhythm, which require urgent cardiac care or a pacemaker implant.
• 24-hour monitoring of blood pressure: serves to objectify blood pressure levels. Based on this analysis it is possible to either confirm or rule out illnesses, and to adjust and optimize treatment.
Our goal is primary as well as secondary prevention – so we aim not just to treat existing diseases, but to prevent their development. When needed, we can schedule appropriate care in the cardiologic divisions in the top Prague hospitals.
The GP’s office is an essential part of our medical clinic. Our GP provides a complete range of treatment – preventive care such as:
• examination of the patient to determine the nature of the disorder or illness, and record the patient's medical information
• preventive occupational health care for companies, societies and enterprises on a contractual basis.
• order, perform and analyze laboratory tests, X-rays and other diagnostic images and procedures ( ECG, CRP)
• provision of overall care for patients and prescription and administration of treatments, medications and other remedial measures ( vaccination against flu, tick-borne encephalitis, tetanus etc.)
• aid in the prevention of diseases and disorders by advising patients on diet, exercise, hygiene and general health
• prescription and administration of medication as well as inoculation of patients to prevent infectious or contagious diseases
• arrange for patients to be admitted to hospital
• referral of patients to other medical specialists and provision of relevant medical details.
The aim of our office is to be your partner and advisor in all questions regarding your health. We offer consultations in which we will try, together with you, to find out the cause of any health problems that you might have, so that we can design their proper treatment with the help of proven and trusted diagnostic and treatment methods.
Our age is especially plagued by civilization diseases. These include:
• Ischemic heart disease,
• High blood pressure,
• diabetes,
• high level of blood lipids,
• cerebrovascular diseases (strokes).
The world-wide occurrence of cancers has been steadily increasing. All these illnesses are connected with a lifestyle which is characterized by a lack of exercise, improper nutrition, exposure to chronic stress and harmful toxic substances, like, for example, cigarette smoke.
We don’t just want to take care of your acute problems, but we want to work with you on prevention, including the identification of risk factors and the exposure of possible early stages of problems. This goal is served by a number of diagnostic methods and tests, who mostly can be preformed right in our office. Specialized exams are scheduled at specialists’ offices.
Our facilities are able to perform:
• blood tests to determine the state of the patient’s metabolism, liver and kidney functions, blood lipids, possible presence of tumor markers.
• EKG examination,
• Holter monitoring of blood pressure,
• Immediate evaluation of inflammatory markers, hemoglobin and blood sugar levels, urine testing with indicator strips.
Our diabetological ambulance offers diagnostic, treatment and preventive services to patients with hyperglycemia.
Diabetes mellitus (diabetes) is a very common civilization disease whose occurrence in the general public is on the rise.
In the Czech Republic the prevalence of this disease is currently 7%.
Diabetes mellitus in its early stages begins unnoticed and does not hurt.
Prevention is very important, especially in the case of obesity or family disposition towards diabetes.
Diabetes mellitus is the most important risk factor in regards to cardio-vascular complications, heart attacks, strokes, vision problems as well as kidney diseases.
If untreated, the risk of complications is very high, but these do not have to occur with early and proper treatment and good patient cooperation.
Distinction of diabetes mellitus:
1. Type 1, Insulin-dependent diabetes (juvenile onset) : the result of an absolute lack of insulin, develops mostly in childhood, adolescence or early middle age.
2. Type 2, noninsulin dependent diabetes: manifested through the relative insufficient supply of insulin, expressed though a so called insulin resistance, or the ability of the body to respond to insulin appropriately. It usually occurs during middle age of later in life.
Gestational diabetes mellitus: can occur in the third trimester of pregnancy.
Secondary diabetes mellitus: occurs as a secondary symptom of other diseases (especially of the pancreas)
Obesitology:
Your obesitologist can set:
A proper dietological program
- A pharmaceutical treatment plan for obesity or overweightness
- recommendations for individually adjusted physical activity
Obesity - has become one of our most significant health problems.
In the Czech Republic, 66% of all adult men and 54% of all adult women suffer from overweightness or obesity.
Obesity significantly increases the morbidity and mortality for cardio-vascular diseases.
Obesity is the result of a positive energetic balance.
The therapeutic treatment of obesity always has to be individual and complex.
Adjustments in the patient’s diet and physical exercise are pillars of the treatment.
Pharmaceutical treatment takes advantage of a range of medications with a variety of effective mechanisms.
A decrease of body mass by only 5% already constitutes a significant decline of health risks associated with overweightness and obesity.
